CLARISONIC MIA FIT REVIEW6

The Clarisonic Mia Fit is the newest incarnation of Clarisonic devices available from the brand. Unlike the original Clarisonic with the handle, the Mia Fit was designed to be compact, lightweight and free-standing. It has two settings (Delicate and Power Cleanse), with both deliver the same cleansing action as the original — 6x the cleansing power of hands alone!
Here are some things to consider with the Clarisonic Mia Fit.
1.) The Clarisonic Mia Fit May Reduce Breakouts.
According to a 2006 study in the journal Cosmetic Dermatology, supersonic brushes oscillate at 300 times each second. This is fast enough that pimple-forming dirt, oil and debris becomes loosened and can be cleared from the skin. Unlike cheaper knockoff brushes, the Clarisonic brushes (including the Mia Fit) have bristles are made from non-porous material that will not harbor acne-causing bacteria with regular use. This is a major feature!
In the study, it was mentioned that the original Clarisonic may reduce the appearance of breakouts.
2.) Sonic brushes are more powerful than non-sonic brushes.
According to dermatologist Dr. Zoe Draelos, M.D., the brush was developed by the same team of engineers and researchers that developed the Phillips Sonicare Toothbrush. “Sonic” simply means waves of energy on the “sound” frequency.
All skin care brushes will mechanically clean the skin. By this I mean, the brush just scrapes the surface of the skin, resulting in debris becoming dislodged, and then swept away. Pretty simple!
Sonic skin care brushes add in a second form of cleansing known as fluid dynamics. Essentially, sonic skin care brushes rotate so quickly, they cause the mixture of water-and-cleanser molecules to move very quickly. It’s a very small motion to you and me, but if you are a pore, it’s like being swept with a tornado. This whirling fluid vibrates more than 500 times a second, effectively sweeping your pores of debris. Pretty awesome!
3.) It is suitable for use if your skin is scarred, blemished, or both.
One theoretical concern for those with marred skin is that the brush could mechanically scrape the surface or make it more uneven. However, this has been disproven, as Dr. Draelos states, “The sonic motion of the brush aids in dislodging facial debris, much like the sonic surgical-instrument cleansers that are used to clean liposuction cannulas and reusable injection needles…the face brush is designed to traverse facial dermatoglyphics, pores, and scars”.
In reality, the Clarisonic Mia Fit may be ideal for patients with acne, clogged pores, or blackheads, as unclogging the pores is a common goal of treatment. You can also use the Clarisonic with traditional ingredients used for oily skin and clogged pores, like salicyclic acid (softens the keratin of the skin, making it easy to draw debris out) and retinol (increases cellular turnover rates, forcing dead skin cells and some debris out), as well as antibacterial agents like benzoyl peroxide. This is because Clarisonic does not remove layers of skin. It provides a gentle, sonic cleanse.
4.) The Clarisonic Mia Fit is beneficial for your skin.
The 2006 study in the journal Cosmetic Dermatology states that the Clarisonic brush is not only is a “gentle” means of cleansing, but it also prevents the skin from being compromised by acute or chronic infections resulting from inadequate cleansing of the skin.
Clarisonic may also allow for better absorption of other skincare products, and regular use may reduce the appearance of enlarged pores over time.
Other Considerations
According to the user’s guide, the brush heads should be replaced every 90 days when being used at the recommended frequency of two times per day.
Bottom Line
I very highly recommend use of the Clarisonic Mia Fit. Not saying that just because it’s an ad — I get sent pitches everyday, and I agreed to do this one because I honestly believe in the product.
The Clarisonic sonic spin brush technology has been shown to cleanse more deeply, rapidly, and thoroughly than other cleansing brushes. I appreciate the fact that its bristles are non-porous and will not harbor bacteria within 90 days of first use, and I also like that the bristles are gentle and non-exfoliative. It’s the perfect addition to a pore de-clogging regimen that includes agents like salicylic acid, retinoids orbenzoyl peroxide.
